Man City Sees Guimarães as De Bruyne's Successor, Offering Two Players to Offset Transfer Fee

On July 23, according to football365, Manchester City is interested in Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães, hoping he can become the successor to Kevin De Bruyne, and is willing to offer two young players from their squad in exchange.

Previous reports suggested that De Bruyne had agreed personal terms with a Saudi Professional League club and could complete a transfer this summer, but this was later refuted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. However, De Bruyne’s contract with Manchester City expires in the summer of 2025, and the club has started looking for his replacement.

It is understood that Manchester City has set its sights on Newcastle’s midfield star Guimarães, hoping he can fill De Bruyne’s shoes. Newcastle, concerned about not meeting the Premier League’s financial fair play regulations, may sell Guimarães this summer, with an asking price of up to £100 million.

Manchester City has proposed a compromise, offering to include two young players, Oscar Bob and James McAtee, as part of the deal to offset some of the transfer fee. If Newcastle accepts these two players, Guimarães’ transfer fee could be reduced to around £65 million.
