Trippier Retires from England National Team After Four Major Tournaments

On August 29, 33-year-old Trippier announced his retirement from the England national team via social media. In his farewell letter, he wrote, “Representing my country in four major tournaments has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”

Trippier stated, “I never thought, as a young lad, that I would play for my country, let alone make 54 appearances, and representing my country in four major tournaments has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”

Additionally, he wrote, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Southgate and all the staff who have worked with the England team for their trust over the years. Thank you to all my teammates; we’ve had some very special moments, including reaching two European Championship finals and a World Cup semi-final. I believe that this group of players will achieve victories in major competitions in the future.

Regarding the future, Trippier said, “I wish the best of luck to Carsey, the coaching staff, and the entire team going forward.”

Finally, Trippier expressed his gratitude, “A deep thank you to all the England fans who have supported us around the world and encouraged us through tough times.”
