De Bruyne: No Contact with Any Team, Believes City Will Discuss Contract Extension

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has stated that he did not negotiate with any other clubs about leaving City this summer.

The Belgian player had previously expressed that he was “open to everything” and had discussed the possibility of leaving City with his family, as rumors of a transfer to Saudi Arabia persisted after last season.

Pep Guardiola has insisted in recent months that De Bruyne would not be sold, and the Belgian playmaker has also stated that he never discussed a transfer with potential buyers.

De Bruyne said, “Honestly, I haven’t talked to anyone, despite all the noise and news this summer. I said in the summer that I was looking forward to a quiet summer, and it was indeed. I had four weeks of vacation, came back and started training. That’s it. There’s nothing to say. I wasn’t on any team’s radar, nor did I talk to anyone.”

De Bruyne currently has one year left on his contract with Manchester City and is expected to enter into negotiations with the club regarding his future. He said, “As the season progresses, I believe we will have some discussions with City. I just want to focus on playing well; this will happen over the next few months. I’m not in a rush to make decisions right now.”

Guardiola’s team has started the season with a 100% win rate in their quest to defend the Premier League title. De Bruyne has started all three games, scoring one goal and providing one assist. During his time at City, he has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups, and one Champions League title.
