Previously, according to official news from Bordeaux, the club applied for bankruptcy restructuring and relinquished its professional team status. Subsequently, the team was relegated to the fourth tier of French football. Recently, the club released a list of players, which included the previously retired Mavuba and Baisse.
According to reports, former French international Mavuba, born in 1984, has chosen to come out of retirement to join the French giants Bordeaux, who were relegated to the Championnat National due to financial issues. Bordeaux is also Mavuba’s parent club.
Mavuba came through the Bordeaux youth academy, joined the first team in 2003, transferred to Villarreal in 2007, returned to France to join Lille a year later, and moved to Czech club Sparta Prague in 2017 until his retirement in the summer of 2019. In the 2010/11 season, Mavuba represented Lille and won the domestic double in France.
The 36-year-old Baisse retired in 2022 and subsequently served as the club’s ambassador.
In addition to these two veterans, most of the other players on the team have been recruited from lower-tier minor leagues or promoted from the youth academy.
