On August 24th, Real Madrid star Bellingham spoke about his absence due to injury, stating that while he hates missing games, he needed rest after a year of intense competition.
Bellingham suffered a collision during team training which resulted in a strain of the gastrocnemius muscle in his right leg and is expected to be out for a month. This will cause Bellingham to miss at least three La Liga matches and two Nations League games with the England national team. In fact, since the beginning of 2024, Bellingham has been plagued by shoulder and ankle injuries.
In the 2023-24 season, Bellingham helped Real Madrid win the La Liga title and the Champions League. This summer, he also helped England secure the runner-up position in the European Championship. Such frequent competitions have left Bellingham feeling drained, and when discussing his injury absence, he said, “There’s nothing I hate more than missing games. However, I still see the positive side; perhaps my body is telling me that after a year of intense competition, it needs more rest. I’m frustrated about the injury, but I’ll support the players on the field like those fans until I can return to the team in better shape.”
