According to Spanish newspaper AS, Real Madrid recently requested that the French national team not call up Mbappé, Mendy, and Camavinga. However, France’s head coach Didier Deschamps ignored this request and included them in the national team anyway.
On Friday at noon local time, Deschamps announced the latest roster for the French national team, which includes Michael Olise and Manu Koné. This list is for preparation for two Nations League matches, one on September 6 against Italy, and another on September 9 against Belgium. Olise joined Bayern Munich for 60 million euros this summer. This is his first call-up to the French national team, following an impressive performance at the last Olympics where France won silver after losing the final to Spain.
On the other hand, the French Football Federation ignored Real Madrid’s request. It is reported that Real Madrid tried to prevent Mbappé, Camavinga, and Ferland Mendy from being called up to the national team, similar to their request to the German national team, which did not call up Rüdiger, allowing him to rest during the upcoming international break.
Olise has been a player of interest to Deschamps, even though he was not included in the Euro Cup squad. The 22-year-old winger joined Bayern Munich this summer after spending several years with Crystal Palace, where he shone in the Premier League and earned his first call-up to the French national team. He may even start in the first Nations League match against Italy on September 6. Like Olise, Manu Koné also performed well at the Olympics, earning his first call-up to Deschamps’ national team.
