According to The Athletic, Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen is no longer part of Manchester United’s plans.

Per the report, Ajax are interested in bringing Eriksen back to Amsterdam and have already begun negotiations with Manchester United, who are willing to let Eriksen go for around £5 million.

With only one year left on Eriksen’s contract, the summer transfer window of 2024 presents Manchester United’s last opportunity to recoup a transfer fee for the star player. Eriksen himself also hopes to leave Manchester United to gain more playing time.

Given that Casemiro and McTominay have both refused to leave, Eriksen has become the most likely player to be sold from Manchester United’s midfield. The club hopes to sell Eriksen to make room for the signing of Manuel Ugarte.

Last season, Eriksen publicly expressed dissatisfaction with his peripheral status at Manchester United. He made only 12 appearances in the Premier League, totaling 28 appearances across all competitions throughout the season. Clearly, he is not part of manager Ten Hag’s plans.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over Ugarte’s transfer, hoping to sign the Uruguayan player before the transfer window closes. Paris Saint-Germain values Ugarte at £51 million, while Manchester United is currently only willing to pay up to £40 million. As an alternative, Manchester United is considering a clause to loan Ugarte with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
