J.League Cup First Half: Junker’s Long Shot Creates Danger, Yamagishi Yuya’s Goal Disallowed – Nagoya Grampus vs Sanfrecce Hiroshima

Match Report

On September 4th at 6 PM, the first leg of the J.League Cup quarterfinals took place with Nagoya Grampus hosting Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

In the 5th minute, Junker received the ball outside the penalty arc, turned and unleashed a powerful shot which was brilliantly saved by Go Namiura, pushing it out for a corner.

In the 6th minute, Keisuke Ando received the ball on the edge of the penalty area, struck a volley that went over the crossbar and out of play.

In the 19th minute, Makoto Manda delivered a corner kick, Junker contested for the header to clear, and Junki Doi, positioned outside the box, hit a long-range shot which was blocked by Atsuya Inada near the goal line.

In the 33rd minute, Nagoya Grampus launched an attack, Keisuke Shioiri received the ball on the edge of the penalty area and fired a shot which was timely blocked by Sho Sasaki.

In the 40th minute, Yūhei Tokuyama crossed from the left side of the front court, and Yuya Yamagishi made a run to the goal mouth, heading the ball which flew over the crossbar, missing a good scoring opportunity.

In the 44th minute, Yuya Yamagishi received a through pass from Junker, broke into the penalty area and scored with a one-on-one shot. However, after VAR review, the referee ruled that Junker was offside, disallowing the goal.

The first half ended in a 0-0 draw.
