On August 17, the Chinese Table Tennis Association (CTTA) issued an announcement on its official website.
The announcement reads as follows:
Recently, public security organs have been working with relevant departments to lawfully crack down on illegal activities related to “fan club” behaviors in the sports field. The Chinese Table Tennis Association firmly supports this initiative and strongly condemns any illegal activity.
“Fan club” chaos has severely disrupted the normal training and competitions of the Chinese table tennis team, causing extremely negative impacts on the work, life, and families of athletes, coaches, and management personnel, and creating a detrimental social impact.
For any acts of insulting, defaming, slandering, or other forms of malicious attacks against the Chinese table tennis team or its members in cyberspace or other public venues, our association will collect evidence according to law and pursue legal responsibility from the relevant organizations and individuals.
As a team filled with a spirit of unity, the Chinese table tennis team sincerely thanks all sectors of society for their concern and affection, and looks forward to working together with everyone to create a clear and healthy cyber environment.
The Chinese Table Tennis Association will continue to dedicate itself to the healthy development of China’s table tennis cause, further promoting the new appearance of the Chinese sports spirit in the new era, contributing to the construction of a sports powerhouse, and striving to win greater honor for the country and the people.
