The recently disclosed salary list of Arsenal players for the 2024/25 season has sparked widespread controversy. New signing Sterling has become the top earner on the team, but many core players receive relatively lower salaries, which has raised discussions.
Sterling has become Arsenal’s highest-paid player, though it is noteworthy that Chelsea will cover half of his salary.
Arsenal hopes to achieve better results in the Premier League this season, as they finished just two points behind Manchester City last season. Arteta brought in several new players during the summer transfer window of 2024 to strengthen the squad.
David Raya, after spending a season on loan, officially signed a long-term contract with Arsenal. Ricardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino joined the team for a combined transfer fee of £70 million. Neto was brought in as a substitute for Raya, while Ramsdale transferred to Southampton.
However, the most eye-catching transfer was Sterling, who joined on loan from Chelsea at the last moment before the transfer window closed. The 29-year-old star was not part of Chelsea’s new manager Malesani’s plans, so Arteta quickly signed the player he had previously worked with at Manchester City.
Sterling’s contract at Chelsea earned him a weekly salary of up to £325,000, making him Arsenal’s highest-paid player. However, Arsenal will not bear all of Sterling’s salary, with Chelsea covering half of it.
Sterling surpasses Havertz (weekly salary of £280,000) to become the highest-paid player in the team. Following him are Jesus (£265,000), Declan Rice and captain Odegaard (both £240,000), and Thomas Partey (£200,000).
Saka earns a weekly salary of £195,000, surpassing Saliba (£190,000), Gabriel Martinelli (£180,000), and Ben White (£150,000).
New signing Calafiori earns £120,000 per week, while another newcomer Merino’s salary is around £90,000, equal to Trossard and Timber.
Surprisingly, goalkeeper Raya earns only £85,000 per week, a figure slightly higher than Jakub Kiwior (£58,000) and Neto (£50,000).
