According to Sport, Cancelo has informed Manchester City that if he cannot join Barcelona this summer, he would rather stay at Man City and see out his contract, even if it means not being a regular in the first-team rotation.
The report states that Barcelona are very keen to keep Cancelo, and the player himself is eager to make a permanent move to Barcelona. However, Barcelona’s current financial situation makes it difficult for them to meet Manchester City’s demands.
Sport reveals that Barcelona are interested in leasing Cancelo for another season with an option to buy for 20 million euros (approximately 17 million pounds) included in the contract. However, Manchester City want a transfer fee of no less than 25 million euros, and have therefore attempted to market the Portuguese international to Italian clubs.
Cancelo’s contract with Manchester City expires in the summer of 2027, which means that Barcelona and other clubs interested in Cancelo will have to wait until January 2027 at least before they can negotiate a free transfer…
