Chelsea FC has officially announced that they have loaned 24-year-old English winger Jadon Sancho from Manchester United, with a buyout clause included in the contract. It is understood that if Chelsea finishes next season with a ranking above 14th, the buyout clause will be automatically triggered, with the buyout fee set at between 20 to 25 million pounds plus add-ons.
Last season, Sancho was on loan at Borussia Dortmund. During Manchester United’s pre-season preparations, Sancho had reached a reconciliation with manager Erik ten Hag, but once the season began, tensions arose again between them, leading to the former England international’s departure once more due to conflicts within the management.
The now 24-year-old Sancho came through the youth ranks at Manchester City before transferring to Borussia Dortmund. In 2021, he joined Manchester United for a transfer fee of 85 million euros. During his time at Manchester United, he played 83 games and contributed 12 goals and 6 assists. Currently, his market value according to Transfermarkt is 30 million euros.
In 2021, Sancho revealed in an interview that he had been a Chelsea fan since childhood.
