Japanese Media: Iniesta Has Not Activated the +1 Renewal Clause with Al Wasl; Multiple Teams Invite Him to Join and Continue His CareerAccording to Japanese media, 40-year-old Andrés Iniesta has not activated the +1 renewal clause in his contract with Al Wasl FC in the UAE. However, there are still multiple teams inviting “El Niño de Oro” (The Golden Boy) to join and continue his career. Currently, Iniesta has not made a decision on whether he will retire or continue playing.

Iniesta joined Al Wasl FC of the UAE in August 2023, but after one season, the team was relegated. Although his original contract included a +1 renewal clause, Iniesta has not exercised this option and is now a free agent. The UAE First Division League (second-tier competition) will kick off in mid-September, and Al Wasl hopes that Iniesta will stay.

Despite not renewing with Al Wasl, Iniesta remains in Dubai, maintaining his fitness through individual training. Al Wasl also hopes that Iniesta will stay, and several other teams have invited Iniesta to join them, hoping he can extend his career.

However, sources close to Iniesta reveal that he has not yet made a decision on whether to retire or continue his career. In an interview with Spanish media in July, Iniesta mentioned considering retirement and wanting to become a coach and return to Barcelona, “I am currently thinking about it, and I haven’t made any decisions yet. I’m somewhat considering obtaining my coaching license this year, I need to think about whether I want to continue playing or retire.”
