English Media: Summer Transfer Window Closing Date for Europe’s Top Five Leagues May Be Adjusted to Before the Start of the Season

According to The Mirror, representatives of the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1 in the European Club Association (ECA) have reached a consensus and are pushing to adjust the summer transfer window closing date back to before the start of the season.

Reports suggest that the ECA plans to set the transfer window deadline for next summer on August 15, which is 24 hours before the opening match of the new Premier League season. This would ensure that clubs in the top five leagues cannot recruit new players via transfers once the season begins.

It is understood that the ECA proposed a similar motion this summer, but support for the motion was abandoned due to pressure from Barcelona on La Liga.
