Adeyemi Scores a First-Half Hat-Trick in the Champions League, Becoming the Second German to Achieve This Feat

In the second round of the Champions League, Adeyemi completed a hat-trick in the first half. Girassi scored twice, Emre Can and Nmecha each added a goal, leading to a 7-1 victory for Borussia Dortmund over Celtic at home.

The 22-year-old Adeyemi became the second German player after Mario Gomez of Bayern Munich in November 2011 (against Napoli) to score three goals in the first half of a Champions League match. It is worth noting that Adeyemi had only scored eight goals in his first 30 Champions League appearances, but he netted three goals in this single game, breaking his seven-match goal drought in the Champions League.

On the other hand, this 7-1 victory marks Borussia Dortmund’s biggest win in the Champions League. Previously, their largest win was a 6-goal victory, which occurred in September 2016 with a 6-0 away win against Legia Warsaw.
