Spanish Media: Real Madrid Willing to Cover One Year of Salary to Offload Vallejo, but Player Insists on Staying

According to Relevo, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear to Jesús Vallejo that he is not part of the team’s plans.

Real Madrid is currently facing a certain crisis in the center-back position, yet they are still attempting to offload Vallejo. Last season, Vallejo was loaned out to Granada, but during his time at Los Carmenes Stadium, he had few opportunities to play due to various reasons. Upon returning to Real Madrid before the start of this season, he again faced muscle issues, which caused him to miss several early-season games. It is understood that he has now recovered, and in the match against Real Sociedad, Militão, Alaba, Jacob Ramón, and Joan Martínez were all unavailable.

His main competitors will likely be the possibly recovering João Carvalho and Carvajal. However, in the final weeks of the transfer window, Real Madrid offered to cover his salary for the last year of his contract to facilitate his departure, but Vallejo decided to stay.

It seems that Vallejo hopes to see out the final year of his contract at the Bernabéu, despite there being little hope for an extension and almost no playing opportunities. Since joining Real Madrid from Zaragoza for 5 million euros, Vallejo will have been with the club for a total of ten years by next summer. During this period, he was loaned out to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Eintracht Frankfurt, Albacete, and twice to Granada.
