Red Star Belgrade Loses Derby, Fans Throw Objects Attacking the Dressing Room Causing Injury to Opposing Team's Head Coach

In the Serbian SuperLiga match that concluded in the early hours of September 24, the Belgrade derby saw Red Star Belgrade lose 0-4 to their rivals, Partizan Belgrade. The result of the derby ultimately sparked violence, with Partizan players and fans engaging in fights within the tunnel leading to the dressing room, requiring police intervention.

However, the worst was yet to come as extremist fans managed to infiltrate the dressing room area and threw objects at Partizan Belgrade’s players and head coach, which resulted in Partizan’s head coach Stanojevic suffering a head injury from broken glass. The Serbian stated during a press conference, “Disgruntled fans broke the dressing room’s glass, which hit and cut me. Nothing else happened. I wouldn’t have come if the result was 0-0, but I had to show respect.”

The head coach of Red Star Belgrade also expressed support for Stanojevic during his post-match press conference and condemned the incidents: “These are not good things for football. It shouldn’t escalate to the level of war; it’s just football.”
