Van Dijk: Won't Be Complacent Despite Only Conceding Twice; Defense Must Avoid Relying on Goalkeeper's Heroics to Save the Team

On October 6, in the 7th round of the Premier League, Liverpool secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory away at Crystal Palace. In his post-match comments, Van Dijk stated that the team still has room for improvement defensively and will not become complacent just because they have only conceded two goals in seven rounds.

Van Dijk commented on the match, “Early in the game, Jota scored a brilliant goal. However, in the second half, the opponents put us under considerable pressure, which we anticipated. The team should have done better. It’s great to maintain our lead before the international break.”

Despite conceding only two goals in the first seven rounds, Van Dijk remains unsatisfied with the team’s defensive performance: “In the upcoming matches, we will continue to work hard and will not become complacent due to our current achievements. In this game, Alisson made two incredible saves that helped us secure the win, and the defense should avoid such situations. Everyone in the team contributed to keeping a clean sheet.”

Van Dijk also stated that Liverpool won’t be distracted by external factors: “Regardless of what others think of us, we don’t care. We will face any challenges and competitions without fear and strive to win every match.”
