According to Kaveh Solhekol, the chief reporter for Sky Sports, Chelsea Football Club is currently in negotiations with Qatar Airways and two other airlines regarding sponsorship of the shirt front.
Up until now, Chelsea has not been able to finalize the issue of the shirt front sponsor, leading to the team playing matches in shirts without any sponsorship branding.
As reported by Sky Sports notable journalist Solhekol, Chelsea is currently in talks with Qatar Airways over the front-of-shirt sponsorship. Qatar Airways is also the current shirt front sponsor of Paris Saint-Germain and recently signed a six-year sponsorship deal with the UEFA Champions League, reportedly worth £70 million per year.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is also in discussions with Riyadh Air and Turkish Airlines regarding front-of-shirt sponsorship. Among them, Turkish Airlines was once close to becoming Chelsea’s shirt front sponsor in 2015, but the negotiations broke down, leading Chelsea to choose Yokohama Rubber as their sponsor instead.
Some bloggers have already created mock-ups of what the Chelsea shirt would look like with Qatar Airways’ branding on the front, which seems to have a good visual effect. However, the actual outcome will depend on the results of further negotiations between the two parties.
