Loss Due to Traffic Jam? Qarabağ's Late Arrival Causes Delay in Their Match Against Tottenham by Several Minutes

In the early hours of September 27, due to severe traffic congestion in London, the visiting team, Qarabağ, was unable to arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on time, causing the Europa League match to be postponed from its original schedule.

According to the Daily Mail, amidst the traffic chaos, the journey from the hotel in Stratford to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which should have been a short trip for Qarabağ, took an unexpectedly long time. The match was originally scheduled to start at 8 PM local time but had to be delayed due to the traffic jam. Heavy rain and partial road closures exacerbated the traffic situation around the stadium. With police assistance, the bus carrying the Qarabağ players finally arrived at the destination at 8:45 PM. Although head coach Gurban Gurbanov expressed dissatisfaction with the situation, he quickly organized his players to prepare for the match, which eventually kicked off at 8:38 PM.

The commentary team from TNT Sports, including former star player Peter Crouch and Glenn Hoddle, also encountered traffic jams. The two were forced to get out of their vehicle and walk in the heavy rain to reach the venue. Crouch joked during the live broadcast, “We had to abandon our car and then run in the rain.” Hoddle humorously responded, “Peter ran like lightning, while I could only limp behind.”

The Daily Mail also mentioned that the A10 road near the Tottenham stadium was closed in both directions, and a reported major traffic accident led to the cancellation of several Greater Anglia railway services.
