Due to the current leader of the Japan Football League, Kochi United, obtaining a license for next season’s J3 League, Iwate Grulla Morioka, currently at the bottom of the J3 League, has been relegated in advance. In response to this, Iwate Grulla Morioka CEO Yuta Akita announced his resignation at the end of the season.
The 54-year-old Yuta Akita, who played for teams such as Kashima Antlers, Nagoya Grampus, and Kyoto Sanga during his playing career, has coached Kyoto Sanga, Tokyo Verdy, and Machida Zelvia after retiring. In the 2020 season, Akita became the head coach of Iwate Grulla Morioka and secured the second place in the J3 League the following year, helping the team make its first entry into the J2 League. However, at the end of the 2022 season, Iwate Grulla Morioka was relegated, leading to Akita’s resignation and his subsequent appointment as the club’s CEO in October 2022.
With Yuta Akita’s resignation, the structure of Iwate Grulla Morioka for the post-2025 season will be announced at a later date.
