On October 2nd, due to Manchester United’s poor performance this season, Patrice Evra has also found it torturous to commentate on the Red Devils’ matches and has requested not to be assigned any more Manchester United games.
Following Manchester United’s 0-3 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur, their league position dropped to 13th. Evra commented, “Commentating on Manchester United’s matches makes me feel very distressed. Some commentators are harshly critical of the team during commentary because of their own frustration. When your beloved club is struggling, watching their matches can be very disappointing. So, when working for Sky Sports, I’ve requested not to be assigned any more Manchester United matches.”
Evra also recalled his feelings during the 2020-21 season when he witnessed Manchester United’s 1-6 defeat at home to Tottenham: “You could see my expression on TV at the time; I couldn’t hide my true emotions. When you’re commentating on a match, you have to remain neutral, yet your beloved club is causing you immense pain. This was the second match I was commentating on, and at that moment, I really wanted to terminate my contract with Sky Sports. I am passionate about my work, and I love Manchester United deeply, but commentating on their matches is just too painful.”
