The 35-year-old Tomoyuki Sugano has been with the Giants since joining as the top draft pick in 2012. This season, he made 24 starts for the Giants, achieving an impressive record of 15 wins and 3 losses, ranking first in the Central League in wins, with a career-best ERA of just 1.67 in recent years.

As early as 2020, Sugano had plans to go to the major leagues, but ultimately they did not materialize. Despite being 35 years old, Sugano still hopes to challenge the major leagues, so he decided to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract to move to the MLB after this season.

It is reported that multiple teams, including the Astros, Mets, and Phillies, have already expressed interest in him. According to U.S. media projections, Sugano is expected to secure a short-term contract with an annual salary between $8 to $10 million.
