On September 19, FIFA officially released the new rankings for men’s national teams, with the Chinese national team dropping four places to 91st in the world, marking a new low in eight and a half years, while remaining 13th in Asia.
In the previous ranking released in July this year, the Chinese national team was ranked 87th in the world. However, after consecutive losses to Japan and Saudi Arabia in the top 18 matches, the team lost corresponding points during this international match window, causing its world ranking to drop to 91st.
This is also the worst world ranking the team has experienced in nearly 8.5 years since it ranked 96th in the world in March 2016. The worst ranking in the history of the Chinese national team occurred in 2013 when the team was ranked 109th in the world.
In terms of world rankings, the top ten teams remained unchanged, with Argentina still at the top of the world, followed closely by France and Spain.
Additionally, the Japanese team, which won consecutive victories over China and Bahrain in the top 18 matches, rose two places in the international rankings and is now ranked 16th in the world.
