On June 15, Paris Saint-Germain officially announced the signing of Matvey Safonov. The club’s statement reads: We are delighted to announce the signing of Matvey Safonov. The 25-year-old goalkeeper has signed a contract with the club until 2029.
Safonov, 25, came through the youth ranks at Krasnodar and made his first-team debut in January 2019. He assumed the role of team captain for Krasnodar in 2020. According to previous reports, Paris Saint-Germain paid a fixed transfer fee of €20 million to Krasnodar for Safonov, with additional performance-based bonuses included in the deal.
Matvey Safonov continued his form in the 2019-2020 season, making 33 appearances across all competitions.
The 25-year-old Russian goalkeeper is currently valued at €20 million by Transfermarkt.
