At the 10th minute, Keisuke Aoyama took a corner kick from the left side and delivered it to the far post, where Taggart made a diving header attempt but the ball went just wide of the post and out for a goal kick.
At the 16th minute, Perth Glory won the ball in the opposition’s half and launched a counterattack. Taggart dribbled past a defender and took a long-range shot from outside the box, which Oluwimi dived to save and pushed the ball out for a corner.
At the 24th minute, Wellington Phoenix countered, with Payne breaking down the right flank and delivering a cross. Shigeo Ishimo tried to slide in for a shot but was a step too late, and the ball slid past the post.
