Jiangyuan Coach Refuses to Comment on Controversial Call: Can Only Congratulate Ulsan's Three-Peat, Originally Wanted to Extend the Suspense but Failed to Do So

On November 1, in the 36th round of the K League (Championship Group), Jiangyuan FC lost 1-2 to Ulsan HD away. This result allowed Ulsan HD to clinch the title two rounds early. After the match, Jiangyuan FC head coach Yoon Jung-hwan stated that although they wanted to extend the championship suspense, they were unable to do so. He also refused to comment on the controversial calls.

Jiangyuan FC needed a win against Ulsan HD to keep the championship race alive. However, after Ulsan HD scored two goals, Jiangyuan FC managed to pull one back through Lee Sang-hyun, but ultimately lost 1-2. With this victory, Ulsan HD secured the title two rounds early.

After the match, Yoon Jung-hwan immediately congratulated Ulsan HD, “Congratulations on their three-peat. We wanted to stop them, but we fell short. I think the team performed well, but after losing, we need to quickly regroup and prepare for the next game.”

However, Ulsan HD’s first goal sparked some controversy, with VAR taking 8 minutes to confirm it as valid. In response, Yoon Jung-hwan said, “These are not the main issues; these are ultimately decided by the referee, and we have to accept it. One of our assistant coaches was sent off because we felt the long review time would affect the team, but I don’t know the specific reason for his dismissal.”

After losing this top-of-the-table clash, Jiangyuan FC must now secure second place to qualify for the AFC Champions League. Yoon Jung-hwan stated, “The remaining two matches will indeed determine the team’s fate, but this loss has certainly had an impact on us.”
