De Bruyne: We played well but didn't score, must beat Romania next

In the first round of Group E matches at the European Championship, Belgium, despite four major missed chances and two disallowed goals from Lukaku, surprisingly lost 0-1 to Slovakia. After the match, Belgium’s captain Kevin De Bruyne spoke to the media.

De Bruyne said, “Two goals disallowed? That’s football. They were within the rules, the referee has to enforce them, that’s it.”

“We started well for the first 20 minutes. We had a strong opening, but unfortunately we made a mistake and they scored. Then we needed some time to regain our rhythm. In the second half, we performed better, created chances, applied pressure, and didn’t give them too many opportunities. Actually, we didn’t play badly, we just didn’t find the back of the net.”

“Of course, now our second game (against Romania on Saturday) is a must-win. We need to be more efficient, and we hope to build on the second half performance from today.”
