On June 16, Real Madrid midfielder Baleveda reflected on his younger days when he admitted that at 17, he mistakenly believed he was a combination of Messi and Ronaldo. However, reality set in after facing obstacles.
In 2016, Baleveda moved from Uruguayan club Peñarol to Real Madrid, initially playing for the reserve team. Due to lack of experience and ability, he was later loaned to Deportivo La Coruña for a season.
Recalling the situation, Baleveda said, “At 17, when I found out I was invited by Real Madrid, I was incredibly excited. I was just 17 and didn’t dare to look back at how naive I was. I somehow thought I was the fusion of Messi and Ronaldo.”
It wasn’t until the summer of 2018 that Baleveda solidified his position in the first team at Real Madrid. In the 2023-24 season, he played 54 matches, scoring 3 goals and providing 8 assists. During his time with Real Madrid, he has won 2 UEFA Champions League titles and 3 La Liga championships.
