The Korean K League has announced that it will hold a vote to form an “K League All-Star team” to play against Tottenham Hotspur in a friendly match on July 31st.
Earlier, Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that they would play two pre-season matches in Seoul, South Korea, as part of their summer tour. The fixtures include a game against the “K League All-Star team” on July 31st and another against German giants Bayern Munich on August 3rd, both at Seoul’s World Cup Stadium.
Now, the K League has outlined the selection criteria for the “All-Star team,” following a “1+11+10” rule, based on a 4-3-3 formation. Specifically, the “1” represents a “Young Player Representative,” with one U22 player from each of the 12 K League teams nominated, and fans will vote for one of them.
The “11” refers to the 11 players who best represent the Korean league, chosen by fan votes. The process involves clubs submitting representative players for each position, with the K League Technical Committee (TSG) selecting four candidates per position. Fans will then vote from this shortlist of 44 players (one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards) to form the All-Star team.
The remaining 10 spots will be filled by the All-Star team coach, who will choose players according to tactical needs and squad balance. Voting will take place over seven days, from June 24th to 30th.
