Jakarta – MotoGP team Gresini Racing has officially become Indonesia’s ambassador at the international motorsport level. The announcement was made directly by the Italian factory team through their Instagram social media platform.
In an upload shared on Wednesday, February 22nd in the afternoon, the @gresiniracing account revealed that President Joko Widodo conveyed the official decision via video during the 2023 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) the day before.
“Yesterday, Gresini Racing was appointed as ‘Indonesia’s World Ambassador’ in the presence of Indonesian President Joko Widodo,” wrote the Gresini Racing official account.
The news about Gresini Racing was met with enthusiasm from the country’s motorsports enthusiasts. They flooded the comments section with congratulations and expressed hopes that this would lead to success for the team in the 2023 MotoGP season.
“Gresini Racing = Pride of Indonesia,” commented one Instagram user.
“Another chimed in: “Proud of Indonesia.”
“Automatically supporting Gresini,” wrote another follower.
It was previously known that Gresini Racing was deserving of the ambassadorial role as the team represents Indonesia, given that numerous Indonesian products sponsor the Italian squad.
To date, over six Indonesian products are known to be supporting Gresini Racing.
