Jakarta – New Repsol Honda rider Luca Marini sets ambitious goals for the upcoming MotoGP season alongside his new team.
Marini moves from his brother Valentino Rossi’s Mooney VR46 Racing Team and joined Honda at the end of last season, filling the spot left by Marc Márquez.
“I want to start with an open mind. We need to understand our speed and the potential after the first official test. We need to find our balance and a competitive strategy, which is my first goal, of course,” he said, as quoted by the HRC Honda website.
“I want to look forward or try to find ways to be on the podium or win with this bike. I know it could be difficult, but we have to look ahead,” Marini added.
Later in the season, Marini will be joined by teammate Joan Mir. The Italian will ride the RC213V motorcycle with the Japanese factory team.
Marini had previously tested with Honda in the post-season tests in November 2023, where he finished the session in tenth place.
Marini remarked that bike development would certainly continue. They still have time before the start of the 2024 season.
“It was amazing, it flew by, and that day is already over! Of course, during the winter and the tests, we’ll have a lot of time to talk with all the team members,” Marini said.
“I have great feelings, I like their culture. We can have a good synergy,” he added.
The second MotoGP 2024 pre-season test will take place at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia from February 6 to 8, 2024.
Meanwhile, the opening round of the 2024 season will commence at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar from March 8 to 11, 2024.
