Jakarta – PT Angkasa Pura Logistik (APLog) is once again entrusted with the cargo logistics for the 2023 MotoGP World Racing Championship event scheduled from October 13-15 at the Mandalika Circuit in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). Following its successful handling of international shipments in previous events, APLog has been given the responsibility.

From September 28 to October 9, 2023, the MotoGP riders’ logistics will arrive in stages, as explained by APLog’s Operations Director, Troficiendy Suroso, in a statement received in Jakarta. This marks the company’s eleventh collaboration with both MotoGP and DORNA Sports for logistical support of the championship and World Superbike Championship (WSBK) at Mandalika.

So far, an estimated 525 tons of cargo for MotoGP 2023 is anticipated, with transportation via sea and air. APLog mentions four stages: charging, distribution, unloading, and clearance, with containers arriving from up to 20 European and Asian countries, subject to customs inspection at ports like Jakarta’s Tanjung Priok and Batam.

Containers continue their journey by sea back to Labuan Port, NTB, before being transported by land to the Mandalika Circuit. In addition to sea freight, air cargo has been handled through Japanese cargo airlines since early this week. The first flight, KZ6231, brought motorcycles, spares, and support equipment, weighing around 111 tons, to Zainuddin Abdul Majid International Airport (BIZAM).

The second flight, KZ2233, followed with a payload of approximately 93 tons. APLog also managed air cargo for the 2022 MotoGP, WSBK 2022, and WSBK 2023 events.

The Indonesian government is intensively preparing for the 2023 MotoGP event, with Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno stating that the series promises an exciting competition due to the tight race among riders. He further remarked on the significance of hosting the event, especially given the close proximity of the top two competitors heading into the season finale.
