Jakarta – Pramac Racing’s Jorge Martin secured the top podium spot in the 2024 MotoGP of France. On Sunday, May 12th, at the Le Mans circuit, Martin triumphed over Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia.
Martin’s quest for victory in the fifth round received a boost from a strong start to the race. He began his battle from pole position.
Initially, it was Francesco Bagnaia who led the pack at the beginning of the race. Martin remained tenacious, aiming to snatch the lead.
In the third lap, chaos ensued. An accident occurred at Turn 8, involving Pedro Acosta, marking the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider’s first crash in MotoGP 2024.
Just one lap later, Marco Bezzecchi met an unfortunate end, crashing out and unable to continue, making the race on the track even more intense.
A fierce contest took place in Lap 17 as Marc Marquez attempted to overtake Di Giannantonio for third place, but his endeavor was initially unsuccessful. However, Marquez’s efforts were rewarded when Di Giannantonio received a long-lap penalty.
On Lap 20, Martin took over the lead from Bagnaia, though the Italian rider managed to reclaim the top spot momentarily. In Lap 22, Martin reasserted his dominance, regaining the fastest position.
In Lap 24, Marquez tried to chase down the two riders ahead of him but was unsuccessful due to the defending MotoGP champion’s defensive maneuvers.
