LOMBOK – Indonesian young racing sensation Veda Ega Pratama secured another triumph on Sunday, October 15, at the Mandailing International Circuit in central Lombok for the second race of the 2023 Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (IATC). Earlier on Saturday, October 14, he had already clinched victory, propelling him further up the leaderboard with a total of 145 points.
“Alhamdulillah, it’s an incredible feeling to achieve my goal of double wins at Mandailing. From the start, I focused on maintaining consistent lap times and distancing myself from the competition,” Veda said upon arrival at the track.
This Indonesian leg of the season was pivotal for Veda, with consecutive victories in the first two series at Sepang, Malaysia, and Motegi, Japan. In the second race, Veda capitalized on his pole position, outshining fellow racers Zen Mitani and Riichi Takahira who attempted to challenge his dominance.
Displaying no complacency, Veda dominated the third IATC series held in his home country, ensuring an unyielding weekend for his team, Astra Honda.
“My strategy paid off, and the gap to the other drivers was secure. This win is crucial for my championship points,” Veda emphasized, dedicating the victory to his supporters, family, and all Indonesian motorsport enthusiasts.
The next round of the 2023 IADC (Indonesia Auto Racing Championship) will take place on October 27 at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand.
