Defending World Champion Bagnaia topped the 2024 MotoGP Official Test in Qatar with a new track record lap of 1:50.952. Excited after the test, Bagnaia shared his thoughts.
The reigning champion Bagnaia claimed the top spot in the 2024 MotoGP Qatar Official Test, setting a new track record of 1:50.952. In his interview following the test, Bagnaia was thrilled.
“The GP24 is an incredible motorcycle, it’s better than the GP23 in every aspect,” Bagnaia said.
“Bastianini and Martin share similar feelings, so we can be proud of Ducati’s work.”
“I really felt great during the test, whether it was pushing on soft tire hot laps or in sprint race simulations, the bike performed almost flawlessly.”
“The GP24 has inherited the strengths of the GP22 and GP23 and improved on many weaknesses. What excites me most is that I have a fantastic feeling with this motorcycle, and that naturally leads to faster lap times.”
However, Bagnaia is convinced he won’t lack competition this year: “Aprilia, KTM, and Ducati seem fast now, Marquez picked up the pace on the last day of testing, Yamaha and Honda appear to be trailing a bit in corner exit traction, but it’s only testing; we’ll see the full picture of the competition when the season starts.”
