This season, Leclerc has shown an improvement in form. However, as a Ferrari driver, his performance hasn’t always met expectations. In the first half of the season, he struggled with tire temperature issues, limiting his ability to perform at his best. Apart from occasional qualifying highlights, he has made some minor errors during practice sessions or races, costing Ferrari valuable points. Nevertheless, overall, Leclerc’s performance this season has been satisfactory.

The Gazzetta dello Sport predicts, “After another season below expectations without any victories, Leclerc has chosen to continue his relationship with Vasseur, with whom he started his debut season at Alfa Romeo. This suggests that Leclerc genuinely believes he has no viable opportunity to replace Hamilton at Mercedes in the future, hence his willingness to commit for several seasons.”

Currently earning €25 million per year, if Leclerc does indeed extend his contract and stays with the team until 2029, his salary could potentially double to €50 million. However, at present, his performances have not necessarily matched the value of his current €25 million salary.
