De Minaur had an 0-6 head-to-head record against Medvedev in their previous eight encounters, but this marked their first meeting on clay. Medvedev started strong, capitalizing on seven break points in De Minaur’s first two service games and secured the opening set 6-4.

However, the tide turned in the second set. After being broken in the sixth game, Medvedev failed to regain his serve, allowing De Minaur to level the match with a 6-2 win. The loss of the second set rattled Medvedev, while De Minaur gained momentum, dominating the third set 6-1.

Despite breaking back after being broken in the fourth set, Medvedev couldn’t hold on, succumbing to De Minaur’s upset. This marked De Minaur’s first appearance in the French Open quarterfinals. He will face either Rune or Zverev in the next round.
