In the first round of the WTA 500 Berlin tournament, sixth seed Zheng Qinwen defeated former world number one Naomi Osaka with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, securing a winning start to her grass court season. In the 130-minute match, Zheng hit a total of 23 aces (serve points where the opponent did not touch the ball), setting a new personal career-high for the most aces in a single match and also breaking the WTA’s season record for most aces in a match this year.
