On June 22 at 7:30 PM, the NBL regular season continues with Shijiazhuang Xianglan hosting Anhui Wenyi.
Anhui Wenyi, the defending champions, are among the title favorites this season. They boast three powerful imports: Darcee Johnson, Jackson, and Zubacic, along with domestic stars like Zheng Qilong, Yang Wenbo, Tong Jie, and Xue Bingwen. On paper, they rank among the top teams. In their opening matches, Anhui defeated Guangxi Weizhuang by 16 points and Henan Sheshan Laojiu by 35 points, averaging a 25.5-point victory margin, demonstrating dominance.
With the team’s overall strength, the individual statistics of the imports are not overly impressive. Johnson averages 17.7 points and 14 rebounds, a dominant force in the NBL’s interior. Jackson contributes 14.5 points and 4 assists, while Zubacic puts up 13 points and 3 rebounds. Tong Jie and Yang Wenbo also score in double digits, providing multiple scoring options for the team.
Shijiazhuang Xianglan have a 1-1 record, currently sitting at 8th in the standings. After a double-overtime loss to Henan in the first round, they defeated Jiangsu Tongguo Guocang 91-84 for their first win. The team has three imports, including Wims, Endo, and Gray. Wims, a former CBA standout and Finals MVP, is still performing well at 38, averaging 29 points, ranking fourth in the league. Endo averages 15 points and 18 rebounds, a rebounding machine whose battle with Johnson will be a highlight. Gray has yet to play. Domestically, there’s the formidable Abudushilifu, who has played for Xinjiang and Zhejiang Chouzhou, with Feng Jiawei and Li Zhanyuan also contributing double-digit scoring averages.
While the defending champions Anhui Wenyi hold an advantage in overall strength, Shijiazhuang Xianglan playing at home adds an element of suspense to the match.
