On June 27th, during the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft, the Washington Wizards used their second overall pick to draft Alexander Sar.
Sar is 19 years old, stands at 7 feet 1 inch (2.16 meters) tall, with a wingspan of 7 feet 4 inches (2.26 meters). He plays both power forward and center positions, drawing comparisons to Evan Mobley and Jaren Jackson Jr.
Last season, Sar played for the Perth Wildcats in the NBL, appearing in 27 games and averaging 17.3 minutes per contest. He contributed 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1 turnover. His shooting percentages were 52% from the field, 29% from three-point range, and 71% from the free-throw line.
