On July 1, according to Shams Charania’s report: Hartenstein is set to sign a 3-year contract worth $87 million with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Knicks only had Hartenstein’s Early Bird Rights, allowing them to offer a maximum of a 4-year deal worth $72.5 million, whereas he could secure a higher contract from another team.
Last season in the regular season, Hartenstein played 75 games for the Knicks, averaging 25.3 minutes, 7.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game.
In the playoffs, he appeared in 13 games, averaging 29.9 minutes, 8.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per contest.
