Stay! Celtics Official: Team Re-Signs Jayson Tatum

On July 7th, the Boston Celtics announced that they have officially agreed to a 5-year, $315 million supermax extension with Jayson Tatum.

Tatum’s new deal, which kicks in from the 2025-26 season, replaces his final year player option worth $37.1 million. The annual salaries for the five-year contract are $54.13 million, $58.46 million, $62.79 million, $67.12 million, and $71.45 million, respectively.

Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens commented, “Jayson is a special person and player, and we are thrilled to see his journey in Boston unfold. He has embraced everything it means to be a Celtic and consistently shown genuine care for every teammate, coach, and staff member throughout the organization. Despite all team accomplishments and individual accolades, Jayson remains committed to improvement. His work ethic and passion for the game, especially in pursuit of a championship alongside his teammates, are remarkable. We are obviously ecstatic that Jayson has chosen to extend his contract and deepen his commitment to the Boston Celtics.”

Tatum is about to complete his seventh NBA season, during which he played 74 games (all starts) this season, averaging 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, a career-high 4.9 assists, and 1.0 block per game. He shot 47.1%, his highest since his rookie season, from the field, 37.6% from three-point range, and 83.3% from the free-throw line.
