On June 26, Hawks General Manager Fields revealed that top draft prospect Alexander Sarr was the only player to decline a workout with the team.
Fields stated, “He had planned to come in for a workout, and we had it set up, then he decided not to come in for the workout.”
Fields mentioned, “I’m not overly offended by it. That’s what agents do; it’s not uncommon.” Fields is aware of which teams Sarr did work out for but declined to disclose specifics or the explanation behind Sarr’s decision to skip the Hawks’ workout.
In a recent interview, Sarr indicated that despite declining the initial workout, he would still report to the Hawks if they draft him as the number one pick.
Sarr said, “Whichever team drafts me, I will play for that team. I don’t have any preferences or anything like that. I won’t be picky about where I go.”
