On July 10, the NBA Salt Lake City Summer League continues with a match between the Jazz and the Thunder.
This is the second game for both teams in Salt Lake City. In their opener, the Jazz secured a 97-95 victory over the Grizzlies, a game that went into overtime. Unlike regular season games, summer league overtime is a seven-point format, where the first team to reach seven points wins. Ultimately, George clinched the win with two free throws. For this summer league, the Jazz have a fairly strong lineup featuring familiar faces such as George, Kessler, Hendricks, and Bazley, all of whom have made their mark in the NBA.
In the first game, George struggled with his shooting, hitting only 5 of 21 shots, but he earned 19 free throw opportunities, finishing with a game-high 30 points, along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Based on the Jazz’s current roster, he is the clear centerpiece with unlimited shooting rights. In the frontcourt, they have Kessler, who put up 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 blocks against the Grizzlies. If not for his lack of touches, his stats could have been even more impressive. Judging by the roster composition, the Jazz have an edge over the Thunder, which doesn’t have much to evaluate.
This is also the Thunder’s second game, having lost their opener 92-102 to the 76ers. The team had decent three-point shooting, hitting 15 threes, but played somewhat chaotically without a clear focal point. Throughout the game, point guard Flagler hit six threes for 18 points, while other players performed rather ordinarily without any standout features. Facing the more experienced Jazz in their second game will be tough if they want to secure their first win, unless their three-point shooting gets even hotter.
Considering the rosters and form of both teams, the Jazz have the upper hand, and they are playing at home, aiming for their second consecutive win. It might be difficult for the Thunder to mount a serious challenge.
