On July 14, the NBA Summer League continues with a match-up between the Knicks and the Hornets.
This marks the Knicks’ first appearance in this summer league, with their goal being to secure an opening win. However, their lineup doesn’t boast much competitiveness this time around. In the 2024 draft, the Knicks selected Dady at No. 25 in the first round, an 18-year-old French player who chose not to join the NBA. Instead, he will continue playing in an overseas league in the upcoming season, which is beneficial for the team as it saves them some expenses. Dady was not included in the roster for this summer league.
The Hornets, on the other hand, have already played three games, all of which they’ve won, maintaining a strong momentum. During this period, they had a game against the Chinese national team, winning 93-62. The Hornets’ McGowens performed exceptionally well, delivering consistent performances. He scored 29 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in the victory over the Kings. His impressive displays have attracted attention from other teams, leading the Trail Blazers to sign him to a two-way contract.
The Hornets’ focus this time is on lottery pick Saron, who is set to make his debut in the summer league, having missed the previous three games. Another French forward, Saron averaged 9.7 points and 3.9 rebounds last season in the French league. When discussing the summer league games, Saron stated, “I want to win, I want to help my teammates achieve the best possible record.” Additionally, there’s another point of interest – last year’s No. 2 overall pick Miller has been named in the roster. It’s uncertain if he will play this time after sitting out previously.
