On July 13 at 6 AM, the NBA Summer League continues with the Grizzlies taking on the Kings. Both teams take the Summer League seriously, and this match is likely to be very exciting.
The Grizzlies have played three Summer League games so far, with a record of one win and two losses. The point differential in all three games has been within three points. They lost by two points in overtime to the Jazz in their first game, narrowly beat the 76ers by two points in the second, with Wells hitting the game-winning shot, and then lost by three points to the Thunder in the third. Although it’s the Summer League, the Grizzlies’ level of seriousness is high, as evidenced by the fact that all three games went down to the wire.
The Grizzlies’ Summer League roster is very strong. Last season, the Grizzlies were affected by injuries, leaving them short-handed at times, which gave many fringe players opportunities to make a name for themselves. GG Jackson, Little Pippen, and Lalarvia all registered for the Summer League, averaging over ten points per game last season. The Grizzlies also have several rookies worth watching, including ninth overall pick Zach Idi, who scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in his debut and hit the game-tying shot against the Jazz but sat out the next two games. He is expected to return to action in this game. Thirty-ninth overall pick Wells hit a game-winning floater against the 76ers.
The Kings previously participated in six Summer League games with both Team One and Team Two. Team One defeated the Chinese National Team, the Spurs, and the Hornets, while Team Two beat the Lakers but lost to the Heat and Warriors. Of course, there was some crossover between the two teams, such as Ellis playing for both.
The Kings’ Summer League lineup is also quite good, led by Keon Ellis, who averaged 5.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists last season, making him an important rotation player. He has also performed well in previous games, scoring 30 points against the Warriors. Additionally, Kobe Jones, a fringe player last season, Mason Jones, who has four years of NBL experience, and Achuer, who has played in the CBA, have all represented the Kings in the Summer League. The latter has scored in double digits in three consecutive games.
