Shams noted that the player the Warriors still want most is Lauri Markkanen from the Utah Jazz, and they have engaged in multiple rounds of discussions regarding a potential trade.

The two sides discussed a trade package centered around Moses Moody, multiple first-round picks, several pick swaps, and a number of second-round selections. Markkanen becomes eligible for an extension on August 6, and sources within the Jazz organization have indicated that they would be willing to retain him unless another team offers a deal that truly satisfies the Jazz.
For Markkanen, signing an extension would mean more money, with initial estimates suggesting his salary for the 2024-25 season would be at least $33,138,600. It’s important to note: if he signs an extension on August 6, he can be traded during the following season – however, if signed after that date, he cannot be traded.
