Today, Serbian media outlet Meridian Sports reported that Miami Heat big man Nikola Jovic has been diagnosed with an ankle fracture, which could potentially sideline him for the Paris Olympics.
In mid-June, Jovic suffered an ankle sprain during a training session and was subsequently spotted wearing a protective boot, but this did not initially jeopardize his participation in the Olympics.
Previously, Jovic was included in Serbia’s preliminary 16-man roster for the Olympics. However, he did not feature in the pre-Olympic friendly match against France that took place in the early hours of today. Despite his absence, Serbia managed to defeat France.
In the Paris Olympic men’s basketball group stage, Serbia is grouped in Group C alongside the United States, South Sudan, and Puerto Rico.
