In the early hours of this morning, in the Olympic Men’s Basketball quarterfinals, the French national team defeated the Canadian national team 82-73, advancing to the semifinals.
It was reported that French star Gobert underwent finger surgery before the game and came off the bench to play for three minutes, securing one rebound.
After the game, when asked about coming off the bench, Gobert said,
“I have complete trust in my teammates and coach, and it (coming off the bench) was effective. You saw our performance at the start; the players were well-prepared and set the tone for the entire game.”
The French head coach stated that he wanted to protect Gobert, which is why he had him come off the bench, despite Gobert saying he was fine himself.
